Livingfields AgriChallenge – A graduate in farming initiative by RMG Ghana Ltd.

VISION
To become the leading farm brand in Ghana and training skills upgrade of agripreneurs.

MISSION
Be full-time cultivators of fresh vegetables and other crops that will be consumed in Ghana and all over the world. 

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project is a Graduates in Farming Initiative registered and licensed urban farming project based at Zaindor Park Farms, Asutuare. It has as its aim, making agribusiness attractive as an employment avenue for young graduates by creating pre-started farm environments and land rental facilities for them to walk in and start a farming venture. This is based on the belief that Ghana’s self-sufficiency in food production lies in the hands of the vibrant young educated Ghanaian. Available for vegetable cultivation is 100 acres of land. The project will run for 5 years. 
12 graduate farmers enrolled in the program in the first year, 200 graduates to be trained by the 5th year. 
This would introduce the needed analytical and business acumen into the local agriculture environment leading to increased productivity and market penetration for the new breed of farmers.

THE AGRI-CHALLENGE
12 trainees have been admitted to the program. The Livingfields Agri-Challenge has created a competitive atmosphere for the trainees to be effective and productive on the field. Trainees have been put into 4 groups from which each group is expected to undertake crop production. Trainees are being oriented on the production process and best agronomic practices of each of the crops; land preparation, planting, harvesting, marketing, finance, etc. Each group is tasked to develop and present a business pitch on their production to attract funding. Resources and funding will be provided by RMG Ghana Ltd.; seeds, fertilizer, crop production products. The groups will begin to produce their respect balloted crop. At the end of the production, group performance and outputs shall be measured and prizes will be awarded. Each episode is been designed to educate the audience of basic agronomic practices that can be applied on the farm or practiced at home.

PRIZES TO BE WON
Prize packages to the tune of GHS 200,000 have been are up for grabs at the end of the challenge. The prizes will go a long way to help trainees set up their businesses. Prizes include cash prizes, input packages, field trips to Germany, South Africa, and Ghana.
